Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Thomas Cornwell founded HomeCare Physicians in 1997 and has made over 32,000 house calls. Nationally recognized for his innovative approach to care, Dr. Cornwell was the inaugural recipient of the “House Call Doctor of the Year” award from the American Academy of Home Care Physicians in 1998. In 2002, Dr. Cornwell received the “Pride in the Profession” award from the American Medical Association, an honor bestowed on doctors considered “heroes in health care bringing pride to the medical profession.” Recently, the American Geriatric Society presented Dr. Cornwell with the 2015 “Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine” award.

Dr. Cornwell has been featured by PBS and TIME Magazine and continues to receive national attention for his efforts to advance Home Centered Care. In addition to his ongoing medical work, Dr. Cornwell serves as the physician representative on the State of Illinois’ Older Adult Services Advisory Committee and is past president of the American Academy of Home Care Medicine. Dr. Cornwell has mentored hundreds of medical students, residents, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. He also helps launch other house call programs. Dr. Cornwell graduated with honors from University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School and was selected the outstanding graduate of his class. He completed his family practice residency at Lutheran General Hospital.

Julie Sacks, LCSW

Julie Sacks
Managing Director, Home Centered Care Institute
Julie Sacks joined the Home Centered Care Institute after eight years in a leadership position with the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA). During her tenure at APDA, Ms. Sacks served as Senior Director of Programs and Services and the Director of the organization’s National Young Onset Center. In both roles, she focused her efforts on strategic planning as well as the development and expansion of innovative education and support programs across APDA’s network of 30 Chapters and 30 Information & Referral Centers.

Ms. Sacks has a unique skill set and combination of corporate and nonprofit experience. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from The University of Texas at Austin and working for several years in the marketing industry, she changed gears and pursued a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 20 years of experience addressing a wide range of concerns and a specialization in the management of chronic illness.

James Bramsen

Chair

James Bramsen is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Spraying Systems, Company, a family-owned business in operation since 1937.  Mr. Bramsen has led the company since the late 1970’s.  Headquartered in DuPage County, Illinois, Spraying Systems has grown in both size and scope under his leadership, with expansion into global markets for both manufacturing and distribution.  Today, Spraying Systems is the largest nozzle and spray system manufacturer in Japan, Korea, Brazil, China and Denmark, including 12 manufacturing locations, more than 90 sales offices around the world, and annual sales over $100 million. 

With a focus on diversification and continued market growth, Mr. Bramsen recently led the formation of a new business, AutoJet Technologies, which operates as a division of Spraying Systems and enables customers to achieve specific operational results via controllers and automated systems.  Mr. Bramsen received his undergraduate degree from North Central College and an MBA in Economics and Finance from University of Oregon.

Peter Whinfrey

Vice Chair

Peter Whinfrey received his undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Finance from the University of Illinois Business School. Using his background in chemistry, he has founded several companies and today directs Environmental Solutions in Batavia, IL, and 3Tier Technologies in Orlando, FL. Both companies develop, manufacture and distribute an array of products using innovative molecular chemistry. Mr. Whinfrey is Chairman of the Board of the Spectrios Institute for Low Vision in Wheaton, Illinois and serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwestern Medicine Foundation.

Andrea Redmond

Treasurer

Andrea Redmond is an Independent Consultant working with boards, chief executive officers and private investors on executive recruiting needs and succession and talent management activities. From 1986 to 2007, Ms. Redmond was a Senior Partner with Russell Reynolds Associates, a highly regarded global executive search firm. During her last several years with the firm, Ms. Redmond was Co-Head of the CEO/Board Services practice. She conducted numerous assignments to recruit CEOs and worked across industries, including financial services, technology, transportation, consumer products and healthcare. In addition to serving on the HCCI Board, Ms. Redmond is on the Allstate Corporate Board, where she chairs the nominating and governance committee, is part of the Northwestern Hospital Foundation Board, and chairs the Board of the Living Well Cancer Support Center.
