Infection Control in Home-Based Primary Care

$40.00

Course Overview

Each year 75,000 people die from healthcare-acquired infections. Many of us know infection control is the first directive for all providers, but what you may not realize is that home-based primary care presents unique infection risks. Precautions must be taken to prevent putting patients, family members, caregivers, and providers at risk for infection.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Recognize general infection risks providers may encounter in the home and how they can impact patients, family member and providers.
  • Describe infection risks that require special considerations including multi-drug resistant organisms and bed bugs.
  • Apply strategies to minimize infection risks including provider behaviors, contraindications to house calls, and infection control programs.

Audience

This online course is intended for primary care providers working with homebound patients, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health professionals.
